Since 1960, the Denver Broncos have grown into one of the American Football League’s most popular teams in the United States.  As back-to-back Super Bowl Champions, fans are well aware of the hard teamwork demanded on the field, as well as off.  So what’s made the ole’ orange and blue so successful?  Along with talented players and coaching staff, they have 20 new recruits assisting with behind-the-scenes training activities.  The Broncos rely on Pioneer’s PRV-LX1 professional DVD recorder to give them the winning edge.

Beginning in the 2004 Season, the Broncos video department began using an arsenal of 20 Pioneer DVD recorders to create, burn, duplicate and distribute over 100 training discs each week.

The digital power behind DVD allows a single disc to store up to four games and provide instant digital access to specific team footage, which has proven a significantly more effective training tool than VHS.

“DVD has streamlined our training program and allowed more flexibility with player homework,” emphasized Steve Boxer, video assistant, Denver Broncos.  “Pioneer’s DVD recorders allow us to easily and cost-effectively customize and burn “cut ups” specific to each players needs for quick study.”

He added that they provide three discs to each player, with two hours worth of footage each, that can easily be studied while traveling with portable DVD players.  “There’s no being tied down to a VHS player or messing with rewinding or fast forwarding a tape to specific material, “ said Boxer.

For example, if a player wants to focus on specific footage like red zone plays, he can select the menu item or chapter for instant access and view frame by frame, or skip forward/backwards with digital precision.  In addition, different discs can be burned specific to offensive lineman vs. wide receivers so that only the material necessary is provided to each player.

Each season, sixteen weeks and thousands of discs later, Boxer points out that there’s no ” time out” for the recorders either.  The units continue to go head-to-head with off-season demands as well, including DVDs for scouting purposes and plans for expanded applications.

“Pioneer’s PRV-LX1s have a convenient hard drive space allowing us to temporarily store any digital footage we need to customize discs and manage daily demands with amazing durability,” said Boxer. “There’s no doubt the recorders will be part of our starting line-up for seasons to come,” he added.
